The Agronomy and Plant Breeding Student Association (IMAGRO) at Universitas Gadjah Mada carried out the Association Visit, Scientific Visit, and Professional Exploration activities on 23–24 May 2025. These were held in Sumedang, specifically at Universitas Padjadjaran and Madu Taman Bunga The Happiness Farm.
With the theme “Synergy of Knowledge and Action: Weaving Collaboration, Reaping Solutions”, the event was expected to create positive synergy strengthening relationships, enhancing professionalism, and providing added value in scientific development and industrial insight for all participants. Around 50 participants took part, all IMAGRO executive board members.
Held at the Multimedia Building, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Padjadjaran (UNPAD). The event opening was by the organizer, Aqila Nathania, who said that this activity was important for strengthening relations between associations. Then there were speeches by Makhasin Suqi Habibi, president of IMAGRO UGM, and Evenjuy Gratata Sembiring, chairperson of HIMAGRO UNPAD.
After the speeches, each association presented their profiles: organizational structure, membership numbers, and work programs of their ministries or departments. Then came a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) between the two associations. In this, corresponding ministries discussed their experiences in management and implementation of their work programs. To lighten the mood after serious discussion, there was a light games session. Participants were enthusiastic about this part.
The visit was closed with a symbolic exchange of plaques between associations. Afterwards, there was a tour around the Faculty of Agriculture and a group photo in front of UNPAD’s rectorate.
Scientific Visit & Profession Exploration
This part took place at Madu Taman Bunga The Happiness Farm. It began with greetings from the farm’s owner, Amar Abdillah, followed by a presentation on cultivation and business inspiration for oyster mushrooms. He emphasized that in addition to cultivation, effective marketing is necessary to improve the economics of agricultural business.
Then participants were guided on a tour around the garden area: they saw mushroom cultivation, trigona honey practices, and civet coffee (kopi luwak). A hands-on practice in mushroom cultivation was included, which the participants responded to with enthusiasm. At the end, there was documentation (photos, etc.) and handing over of plaques as a token of appreciation to The Happiness Farm.
Participants gained meaningful experience via interaction between associations and direct visits to cultivation/agricultural sites. The activity is expected to strengthen collaborative networks through the Association Visit, as well as to provide scientific insight and real practice via the Scientific Visit and Profession Exploration.
The event also aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly, SDG 4 (Quality Education); SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth); and SDG 17 (Partnerships to achieve the goals). The hope is that the synergy between knowledge and action created in this event can continue and provide real contributions toward the development of a sustainable agricultural sector in Indonesia.
