Angola is a republic located on the west coast of Southern Africa, bordering Namibia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Zambia, and the Atlantic Ocean. With a land area nearly twice that of Kalimantan Island, Angola had an estimated population of 32.87 million in 2021. As a former Portuguese colony, Portuguese is widely spoken among its population. Angola’s agricultural sector holds substantial potential due to fertile soils and favorable climatic conditions; however, this potential remains largely underutilized, with only approximately 10–15% of arable land currently under cultivation. Major crops include cassava, maize, legumes, bananas, and sweet potatoes, yet Angola continues to import more than half of its food requirements. To enhance domestic food production, the Angolan government has launched the PLANAGRÃO program for grain production and the PLANAPECUÁRIA program for livestock development. The Angolan government has long expressed its intention to cooperate with Indonesia in agricultural development, and a bilateral agreement between the Republic of Indonesia and the Republic of Angola is expected to be signed in the near future.

Yogyakarta – Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), khususnya Fakultas Pertanian, menerima kunjungan dari perwakilan Kedutaan Besar Angola di Jakarta. Kunjungan ini merupakan langkah awal penjajakan peluang kerja sama Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi (Pendidikan, Penelitian, dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat) untuk mendukung pembangunan pertanian di Angola (10/11).
Penjajakan ini dilakukan sebagai tindak lanjut atas keinginan lama Pemerintah Angola untuk bekerja sama dengan Indonesia di bidang pertanian. Kerja sama ini diharapkan segera terwujud setelah penandatanganan kesepakatan bilateral antara Indonesia dan Angola.
The Department of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada, organized a Public Lecture for students of the Master’s Programs in Agronomy and Plant Breeding on Friday, 31 October 2025, held at Venture Room AGLC, 6th Floor. The event featured two main speakers: Riska Ayu Purnamasari, S.Si., M.Agr.Sc., Ph.D., Lecturer at the Department of Soil Science, Faculty of Agriculture UGM, and Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Maulana, S.Hut., M.Sc., Lecturer at the Department of Plant Pests and Diseases, Faculty of Agriculture UGM.
Departemen Budidaya Pertanian, Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Gadjah Mada, menyelenggarakan Kuliah Umum bagi mahasiswa Program Magister Agronomi dan Magister Pemuliaan Tanaman pada Jumat, 31 Oktober 2025 bertempat di Venture Room AGLC Lt. 6. Kegiatan ini menghadirkan dua narasumber utama, yaitu Riska Ayu Purnamasari, S.Si., M.Agr.Sc., Ph.D. (Dosen Departemen Tanah, Fakultas Pertanian UGM) dan Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Maulana, S.Hut., M.Sc. (Dosen Departemen Hama dan Penyakit Tumbuhan, Fakultas Pertanian UGM).
Rian Reza Panjaitan, mahasiswa Program Studi S1 Agronomi, Departemen Budidaya Pertanian, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Gadjah Mada, terpilih sebagai peserta Digistar Class Intern (DCI), sebuah program pengembangan talenta digital yang diselenggarakan oleh Telkom Indonesia. Program ini bertujuan mencetak sumber daya manusia unggul melalui pelatihan intensif dan pengalaman kerja langsung di berbagai unit TelkomGroup.
Selama enam bulan, peserta DCI mendapatkan kesempatan untuk mengikuti mentoring langsung dari para ahli industri, serta terlibat dalam proyek nyata di berbagai unit kerja TelkomGroup. Tidak hanya pengembangan hard skill di bidang seperti Business to Business (B2B), Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence, dan Cloud Computing, program ini juga menekankan peningkatan soft skill melalui pelatihan seperti Self Growth, Communication, dan Career Planning.
M. Rian Reza Panjaitan, an undergraduate Agronomy student from the Department of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada, was selected as a participant in the Digistar Class Intern (DCI) Program, a digital talent development initiative organized by Telkom Indonesia. The program aims to develop high-quality human resources through intensive training and hands-on work experience across various units within TelkomGroup.
Over a six-month period, DCI participants received direct mentoring from industry professionals and were actively involved in real-world projects across multiple TelkomGroup divisions. In addition to developing technical competencies in areas such as Business to Business services, Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence, and Cloud Computing, the program also emphasized soft skill development through training sessions focused on self-growth, communication, and career planning.
UGM Master’s Student in Agronomy Participates in International Research Program SUIJI-JP-MS in Japan
A Master’s student in Agronomy from the Department of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Lailan Aulia Nadhiroh, successfully participated in the international SUIJI-JP-MS Program (Six University Initiative Japan-Indonesia Joint Program for Master’s Students) in Japan. The program represents a collaboration between three Indonesian universities, namely Universitas Gadjah Mada, Institut Pertanian Bogor, and Universitas Hasanuddin, and three Japanese universities, namely Ehime University, Kagawa University, and Kochi University.
Mahasiswa Magister Agronomi dari Departemen Budidaya Pertanian, Fakultas Pertanian UGM, Lailan Aulia Nadhiroh, berhasil mengikuti program internasional SUIJI-JP-MS (Six University Initiative Japan-Indonesia Joint Program for Master’s Students) di Jepang. Program ini merupakan kolaborasi antara tiga universitas di Indonesia, yakni Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB), dan Universitas Hasanuddin (Unhas) dengan tiga universitas di Jepang, yaitu Ehime University, Kagawa University, dan Kochi University.
An undergraduate Agronomy student from the Department of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Hanif Falah Nasrulloh, was selected to participate in the international SUIJI Service Learning Program (SUIJI-SLP) 2025 in Japan. The program is a collaborative initiative between universities in Japan and Indonesia that integrates academic learning with community service activities in the field of sustainable agriculture.
Hanif explained that he had prepared for the program well in advance by actively seeking information, discussing with previous participants, and carefully preparing the required documents. He emphasized that early planning, proactive communication, and continuous monitoring of program updates were key factors in the selection process.
Mahasiswa S1 Agronomi Departemen Budidaya Pertanian, Fakultas Pertanian UGM, Hanif Falah Nasrulloh, berhasil terpilih mengikuti program internasional SUIJI Service Learning Program (SUIJI-SLP) 2025 di Jepang. Program ini merupakan kolaborasi universitas di Jepang dan Indonesia yang menggabungkan pembelajaran akademik dengan pelayanan masyarakat di bidang pertanian berkelanjutan.
Hanif mengaku telah mempersiapkan diri sejak jauh hari dengan aktif mencari informasi, berdiskusi dengan peserta sebelumnya, serta menyiapkan dokumen secara matang. “Kuncinya adalah perencanaan sejak awal, banyak bertanya, dan terus mengikuti perkembangan informasi program,” ujarnya.
