Department of Agronomy Strengthens Publication Quality through Vegetalika Journal Manuscript Review

Yogyakarta, 29 August 2025. The Department of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada, organized a manuscript review session for the Vegetalika Journal, held at the Venture Room on the sixth floor of the AGLC Building, Faculty of Agriculture UGM. This activity was conducted as part of ongoing efforts to maintain and enhance the quality of scientific publications in the Vegetalika Journal.

The event commenced with opening remarks by the Head of the Department of Agronomy, Rani Agustina Wulandari, S.P., M.P., Ph.D., who expressed appreciation for the active involvement of reviewers in refining manuscripts prior to publication. This was followed by remarks from the Editor-in-Chief of the Vegetalika Journal, Widhi Dyah Sawitri, S.Si., M.Agr., Ph.D., who highlighted the importance of collective contributions from the academic community in sustaining and improving journal quality.

The main session consisted of a collaborative review involving faculty members of the Department of Agronomy and reviewers from various institutions outside Universitas Gadjah Mada. The participation of external reviewers enriched perspectives and strengthened the quality of manuscript evaluations. Through this forum, reviewers provided constructive feedback aimed at improving writing standards and ensuring that published articles comply with scientific principles and remain relevant to current developments in agricultural science.

This manuscript review activity supports the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 on Quality Education through the enhancement of scientific publication standards, SDG 9 on Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure by strengthening research systems and journal management, and SDG 17 on Partnerships for the Goals through the involvement of reviewers from diverse institutions. The activity not only reinforces academic quality but also contributes to the development of broader collaborative networks in the field of agricultural sciences.
