Department of Agronomy UGM Undergoes 2025 Internal Quality Audit to Enhance Academic Excellence

Yogyakarta, 15 August 2025. The Department of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada, participated in the 2025 Internal Quality Audit conducted offline at Classrooms 4, 5, and 6 of the AGLC Building, Faculty of Agriculture UGM. The Internal Quality Audit aims to assess the achievement of academic quality standards and serves as a mechanism for continuous improvement in higher education governance, particularly at the department level as the academic program management unit.

The audit was attended by department administrators, heads of study programs, academic staff, administrative personnel, and student representatives from the Agronomy Undergraduate Program, the Master’s Program in Agronomy, and the Master’s Program in Plant Breeding. The internal audit team from Universitas Gadjah Mada consisted of Ir. Vendy Eko Prasetyo, S.Hut., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPM., ASEAN Eng., and apt. Dyaningtyas Dewi Pamungkas Putri, M.Sc., Ph.D., for the Undergraduate Agronomy Program. Auditors for the Master’s Program in Agronomy were Dr. Sapto Indrioko, M.P., and Dr. Desy Putri Handayani, S.Pi., while the Master’s Program in Plant Breeding was audited by Zuliyati Rohmah, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D., and Dr. Ir. Bambang Triyatmo, M.P. Throughout the audit process, the team evaluated key indicators including curriculum implementation, learning processes, facilities, as well as research and community service activities.

The audit activities were conducted in four sessions. The first session involved the Academic Program Management Unit, represented by the Head and Secretary of the Department, focusing on annual performance achievements and departmental governance. The second session was held with administrative staff and laboratory technicians to discuss administrative procedures and laboratory technical support. The third session engaged the heads of study programs, emphasizing curriculum management, learning implementation, and program development strategies. The final session involved students, providing a forum to gather firsthand feedback regarding academic and non-academic services within the Department of Agronomy.

The implementation of the Internal Quality Audit supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 on Quality Education through the enhancement of higher education standards, SDG 9 on Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure through strengthened management systems and governance, and SDG 16 on Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions through transparency, evaluation, and continuous improvement in academic governance. Accordingly, the audit serves not only as an internal evaluation mechanism but also as a strategic effort to realize excellent, relevant, and sustainable agricultural education.
