Kulon Progo, 16 May 2025 — The Department of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada, carried out a visitation and evaluation activity for students taking part in the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) internship program (BKP Magang) at Wanadelima Orchard, Kulon Progo. The aim of this activity was to observe directly the implementation of the internship, evaluate the students’ learning outcomes, and strengthen the partnership between the academic institution and the partner organization.
Two supervising lecturers attended, namely Siti Nurul Rofiqo Irwan, S.P., M.Agr., Ph.D., and Valentina Dwi Suci Handayani, S.P., M.Sc., Ph.D., along with eight MBKM student participants. From the partner side, there were Mr. Bambang as Wanadelima’s leader, Mr. Gustav as the orchard coordinator, and Ibah as activity assistant.
The event began with presentations by the students on their daily activities and the capstone projects they have been working on over approximately four months. These projects included data analysis, conclusions, and the potential benefits for the partner institution.
An evaluative discussion followed, to assess what the students had achieved, what obstacles they encountered, and to receive feedback from the partner regarding the internship implementation.
Overall, the internship program has run smoothly. The students were considered active and showed good development. However, there were some technical notes, especially related to students’ abilities in data analysis and presenting information, which still need improvement.
This event also served to strengthen cooperation in education and applied research. Moreover, the implementation of this internship helps support several indicators of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth).
