Department of Agronomy Hosts Syawalan to Strengthen Fellowship Among the Academic Community

Yogyakarta, 25 April 2025 — The Department of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada, organized a syawalan event with the aim of strengthening bonds of friendship. The event was held at the residence of Dr. Ir. Nasrullah, M.Sc., and Mrs. Ir. Sri Trisnowati, M.Sc. It was attended by members of the academic community from various units, including lecturers, educational staff, and retired educational staff.

This activity became a special moment to ask forgiveness from one another and to strengthen the sense of family within the Department of Plant Cultivation.

The event opened with a speech from the Chair of the Department of Agronomy, Mrs. Rani Agustina Wulandari, S.P., M.P., Ph.D., who expressed her appreciation for the attendance of the entire academic community in this syawalan event. The program then continued with a session introducing staff who have newly joined as part of the extended family of the Department of Agronomy.

On the same occasion, thanks and appreciation were also conveyed to two educational staff members who have entered retirement (purna tugas), namely Mr. Hasyim Marga, S.P. and Mr. Sardjono, for their dedication and service over the years.

The activity continued with a hikmah syawalan reflection and a communal prayer led by Mr. Tukiman, a retired educational staff member of the Department of Agronomy. In his remarks, Tukiman shared personal life experiences and invited all present to be more caring toward others. According to him, social care is an important value that must always be maintained. Tukiman also reminded that helping those in need is a tangible form of charity that brings blessings. This session was closed with a shared prayer for all members of the department, that they may always be granted health and ease in carrying out their duties.

Next, the event featured a door prize distribution which was lively and received enthusiastically by participants. After that, all attendees took part in a group photo session and mutual handshakes as a symbol of forgiveness. The event was concluded with a joint lunch, Friday congregational prayer for the men, and entertainment and socializing in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

This syawalan event not only reinforced familial bonds, but also aligned with the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially Goal number 4 (Quality Education) and Goal number 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions).
