Inter-Cohort Meeting of UGM Master of Agronomy Students, Classes 2021-2024

Yogyakarta, 11 February 2025 — The Master of Agronomy program at UGM held a sarasehan (collegial meeting / gathering) for students from cohorts 2021 to 2024. The event was organized to strengthen connections among students of different cohorts, build academic networks, and discuss the various challenges and opportunities in agronomy studies. It took place in Classrooms 5 & 6, 1st Floor, AGLC Building, Faculty of Agriculture UGM.

Through an interactive discussion format, the sarasehan was expected to encourage research collaboration and create a supportive academic environment in the Master of Agronomy program.

Dr. Rani Agustina Wulandari, S.P., M.P., Ph.D., Chair of the Department of Agronomy, officially opened the event with an enthusiastic welcome. In her speech, she emphasized the importance of such meetings as a venue for cross-cohort communication and sharing of academic experiences. She also expressed appreciation for the initiative to organize the sarasehan as an effort to build a supportive academic environment.

The event continued with an introduction session of the lecturers who are responsible for the courses in the Master of Agronomy program. In this session, the lecturers introduced themselves and explained the courses they teach. This provided students an opportunity to better know the lecturers and gain a deeper understanding of the curriculum.

Students were also given the chance to meet with their supervising lecturers together with their peers in the same supervision group to discuss their research plans and other academic aspects. This discussion served as a forum for sharing ideas, exchanging experiences, and receiving feedback from both supervisors and fellow students in the same group.

The gathering was then concluded with presentations of discussion findings by representatives from each supervision group.

This sarasehan directly supports the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education. Through cross-cohort discussions, introductions to course lecturers, and supervision sessions, students obtain broader insight and better academic mentoring. The sarasehan also encourages collaboration and knowledge exchange, thereby creating an interactive and supportive learning environment.
